CUBA is running our infamous lake day. Our first event of 2024. We are setting up an afternoon of immense fun. Wakeboards, BBQ's, live music, slip and slide and some backyard cricket. If that doesn't sound great I don't know what does. There will also be an after party back near uni to celebrate how mean your day was. So come on and have a cracking day with us.
Desperate to do some shredding? You’d better stop searching cause we’ve got you sussed with CUBA’s annual Learn To Surf out on the Sumner Bar. We’ve teamed up with the Stoked Surf School to bring you a day full of froth for all those fresh to the water. We’ll hook you up with a crew of 75 other first-timers who’re all keen on having a good laugh at themselves, as well as the lads and lasses from the CUBA exec to lend a hand.
CUBA’s sussed the perfect opportunity for you kooks this coming Friday, if you have a car meet us out there and if not, all you need to do is drag your amateur-selves down to the Foundry where rides will be provided. A setup of such convenience, it’d be a crime to pass up.
We’ll have all you need sussed with boards, snags and full wetties supplied, it’s a combo that’ll have you eating foam till the day is done.
Morning session (10am-12pm) - 25 slots. | Afternoon session (12:30pm-2:30pm) - 25 slots.
With two rounds of pearler barrels to be taken advantage of we can’t wait to see some fresh faces getting amongst the spray this weekend.

There will be a GIANT RAMP set up creating a mountain of powdery goodness for thousands of you and your friends to come down and watch as some of the best shredders around battle it out for the prestigious title of jib ski/board champion.
This is a title obtainable by any man, woman, or child as Jib is a place for ski and snowboard rookies to prove their worth and make their claim to Ilam fame.

Start your weekend off right with Party Waves. Collaborating with Lads Without Labels and Bacon Brothers, we're bringing back another Party Waves.
Join us for a sunrise surf at 8am by the New Brighton Beach pier. Then warm up alongside the Bacon Brothers team who'll be providing a BBQ breakfast from 8-10am. Stick around, meet some new people, re-energise with an Ārepa drink and most of all have a great morning!
Party Waves for Mental Health is an initiative between Lads Without Labels, CUBA and the team at Bacon Bothers aiming to encourage healthy strategies for better mental wellbeing through reconnecting with the ocean and the outdoors.
When we are younger we often spend a lot more of our time outside and enjoying the ocean, but life often gets in the way, especially at University and we lose touch of the benefits that the moana brings to our well-being. Party Waves offers a perfect space to do just this, whilst providing a safe and wholesome morning to meet people.
So even if you don’t surf, come on down, catch the sunrise, refresh your wairua and have a yarn over some Bacon Bros!
